The settings you can’t skip
Four things, set once. Doing them now avoids the kind of mistake you only notice after your first sale.
Go to MyBoxOffice → Configuration.
1. Your venue
Name, address and capacity. The name and address end up on tickets, in emails and in the calendar entry people save on their phone: write them the way you want your audience to read them.
2. Your currency
The currency belongs to the venue, not to the buyer: you pick it once and it holds everywhere — cart, tickets, accounts, app. Changing it after you have sold doesn’t rewrite the orders already placed, so it is worth a look now.
3. Who sends the email
Sender name and address. Use an address on your own domain: mail sent from a free mailbox lands in the spam folder far more often, and a receipt that never arrives is a phone call the same evening.
4. WordPress’s time zone
Not a plugin setting, but it matters: it lives under Settings → General. Get it wrong and a nine o’clock show can display as ten, and the countdown on your site drifts.
Before you open sales, walk through it as a customer: buy a ticket for a test event, look at the receipt that arrives, open the ticket. Five minutes, and you see your venue through their eyes.
