The night itself: doors, desk sales, closing up

It is the night of the show. From here on there is only one place to be: MyBoxOffice → Box office. It is the page built to be used standing up, with an audience in front of you.

Letting people in

You search for a name or scan the code on the ticket, and mark them in. A ticket that has already been used says so immediately: that is the check that catches the printout used twice.

You don’t have to do it alone. You can give access to the people working that night: each one signs in as themselves, from their own phone, and sees only what they need. If you have two doors, the two doors see each other in real time.

People who turn up without a ticket

You sell at the desk from the same page: pick the ticket type, take the money, register it. The seat leaves the available count in the same instant, so nobody else can buy it online while you are still counting change.

Drinks included

If tickets include something from the bar, the box office keeps track of who has already collected. It stops the same person being served twice, and it is the question the bar asks every single night.

Closing up

At the end of the night Reports shows how many tickets were sold, how many people actually came in, and what came into the till broken down by payment method. That is the figure you check against the cash in your hand.

Before your first real night, do a dry run in an empty room: create a fake event, buy yourself a ticket and walk through the door check. Ten unhurried minutes are worth more than any guide — this one included.
